Frequently Asked Question
Getting To Know Jabber Safe
“Jabber is on” means that app blocking is activated on your child’s device. Only the apps you choose to be allowed will be accessible.
Yes, you can deactivate Jabber in the Parent Zone. Toggle the on/off button to “Jabber is off”. All apps will be unblocked when Jabber is off.
You can disable Safari blocking in the Parent Zone. Simply toggle “Hide Safari” to off.
Jabber Safe works hand-in-hand with Apple’s Screen Time API. It allows us to block the apps you do not want for a better device childproofing solution. All of your data remains secure, private, and protected by Apple.
You will sometimes receive an error due to a slow internet connection. Try again.
If you still can’t ‘Allow Screen Time Access’, you may have an extra profile installed on your device. Alternatively, you may have enabled Apple Screen Time Access on another app.
Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. Uninstall the extra profile.
Go to Settings > Screen Time > Apps with Screen Time Access > Toggle off the other apps that have access to Apple Screen Time
After that, return to the Jabber Safe setup and Allow Screen Time Access.

Parent Zone
The Parent Zone is where you’ll find the settings for Jabber Safe. It is password protected so your child can’t tamper with it. In the Parent Zone you can edit things like:
- Apps to allow
- Apps to block
- Change passcode
- Safari hiding
- Activate and deactivate Jabber
Parent Zone > Allow apps > Edit Allowed Apps > Select the individual apps you want to add > Save
Note: You cannot select the category headings (e.g. Education), you must select the individual apps under the category heading.
Parent Zone > Block Apps > Save
We recommend choosing ‘All Apps & Categories’ for the most secure experience.
Parent Zone > Change Passcode > Enter old passcode and new passcode > Save
Enhanced Security is the set up we recommend parents complete to ensure the device is childproof. Once applied, whenever the Settings app is tapped, the child will be brought immediately to the Jabber Safe app which avoids attempted breakouts.
Uninstallation and Miscellaneous
- Go to the Parent Zone and enter your passcode.
- Toggle the Jabber on/off button to Jabber is off.
Now you can uninstall Jabber Safe by holding down the app icon key on the home screen and selecting Remove App followed by Delete App.
If an app is listed under “Always Allowed” in your device settings, then Jabber Safe cannot block that app. To learn which of your apps are listed as Always Allowed:
1. Go to Settings
2. Select “Screen Time”.
3. Go to “Always Allowed”.
Here you can add or remove apps to always be allowed on the device.
Once an app is removed from Always Allowed, Jabber Safe can successfully block it.
